On 21st June 2014 Burton Leander Rowing Club held a boat naming ceremony, for 3 boats, a pair and 2 singles in honour of the sponsorship recieved from East Midlands Airport, Calisto and Bendi Forklifts.
The naming ceremony was then followed by a remeberance service, to pay respect to past members of Burton Leander Rowing Club who were called to duty in World War 2, and whom sadly lost their lives during the confilct.
A quote from Burton Leander Rowing Clubs President, Gerard Wilcox, 'It was a great day, all of our members got invloved, it's really important that we remember those who fought to allow us to have the freedom we have today'
The day continued with both our recreational rowers and full club members participating in Mid-Summer Doubles Scratch Races, which is always a fun and eagerly awaited event, as well all get a little competitive!
The Social committee, as always, excelled themselves providing food and refreshments to keep everyone going throughout the whole day.
A big well done to all those who not only helped organise the day, but also turned up and took part.
The winners of the 2014 Mid-Summer Doubles is Rob Arnold and Jonny Pinchbeck
