Burton Leander Rowing Club was founded in 1847, and celebrated its 150th Anniversary in 1997, the club has seen successes at national and international level, with wins at Henley, The National Championships and The National Schools Regatta. Members of the junior squad regularly attend GB trials, the most recent selection was Liam Rose who competed in the GB vs France Regatta in Abbeville sur la Somme, France. This year we also achieved a Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at the National Rowing Championships of Great Britain.
We are fortunate to have approximately 6K of rowable river, with an exciting regatta course, over 1100m from the Leicester Line Railway Bridge to a point just before the Ferry Bridge, and a straight sprint course over 450m. The fleet of boats is ever expanding, due to extensive fund raising and generous sponsorship. The most recent aquisitions are two new eights, two fours/quads, a number of singles and two playboats.
The club always welcomes new rowers, both experienced and those new to the sport as we have a team of A.R.A qualified coaches and a variety of training boats. We also have a number of university rowers who come back for the summer/winter/easter periods - we offer a special membership rate for those who wish to do so.
